Data.gov.au adds 2503 data sets from Geoscience Australia

The data.gov.au team is also looking into making the site’s analytics publicly available

Data.gov.au has added 2503 new data sets from Geoscience, the largest amount of data sets that have been added to the site so far.

Data.gov.au, which moved to open source CKAN platform in July 2013, was created as part of the Open Government initiative. The data is made publicly available to better assist government-citizen collaboration and industry innovation.

The yearly GovHack event uses data sets provided on data.gov.au to develop new applications and tools for the Australian community.

The Geoscience Australia data sets are of location titles, with the data.gov.au site offering spatial coverage metadata for users to easily search the data by location.

An index of all 20,000 Geoscience Australia resources has also been published on data.gov.au for discoverability of non-data sources.

Other data sets that have recently been added to the data.gov.au website include the APS Facebook Leaderboard, City of Gold Coast Council Divisions, and State of the Service Employee Census 2013.

The data.gov.au team is also looking into making the site’s analytics publicly available.
