Australian government CIO quits

The Australian government’s CIO Glenn Archer has quit after spending just over one year in the role.

In a Twitter post on Monday morning, Archer said: “Today is my last day in the Australia Public Service. Will be sad to say farewell to staff in AGIMO but looking forward to moving on.”

Archer had been the Australian Government’s CIO since December 2012, following Ann Stewart's retirement.

Prior to that, he was first assistant secretary, policy and planning at the Department of Finance and Deregulation. He was also CIO at the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, and national manager, IT infrastructure at Centrelink.

CIO was seeking comment from Archer on Monday morning. Meanwhile, the Department of Finance said it had no comment on the matter.
