ASG signs contract with Australian Maritime Safety Authority

ASG Group (ASX: ASZ) has signed a five-year ICT services contract with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) for an undisclosed sum.

AMSA is a federal government agency responsible for maritime safety, protection of the marine environment and search and rescue.

In a statement to the ASX, ASG Group CEO Geoff Lewis said the company would work with AMSA to transform its ICT from a “capital intensive” services model to a business outcomes based delivery model.

“This agreement gives AMSA both control over the expenditure, as well as flexibility,” he said in a statement. “It enables them to scale up rapidly during emergencies, without having to pay for that extra capacity on a continuing basis.”

According to Lewis, ASG Group’s other government clients such as the Australian Transport and Safety Bureau (ATSB) are looking to change the way technology can deliver value to their business.

“The key to success of this deal is our cloud-based federal government hosting platform and managed services solution,” he said.

In July 2013, The Western Australia Department of Housing signed a $11.3 million contract with ASG Group for IT managed services.

The five-year contract includes server and storage management, database support, service management of IT assets, security and support for Microsoft Exchange and BizTalk.
