Sam Johnston named CSC CTO

Former Equinix exec, Sam Johnston, is CSC’s new chief technology officer for Australian and New Zealand.
Johnston is replacing Mark Nebreda, who was serving as acting CTO following the departure of Bob Hayward from the organisation in November last year.
Johnston, who was recently Equinix’s London-based director of cloud and IT services, will report to CSC’s local boss, Seelan Nayagam and Dan Hushon, CSC’s global chief technology officer.
He served in Zurich as the technical program manager for Google’s nearline and offline storage service, a global Internet scale storage system. He also worked with teams and vendors on servers, software, robotics, networks and data centres, and was the cloud standards lead.
Hushon said Johnston has deep skills across a broad portfolio of public and private cloud platforms and areas such as software-defined networking, modern application styles, security, and free and open source software – including Linux.
CSC’s Nayagam said the next phase of CSC’s growth revolves around its ability to drive further development of next-generation technology solutions.
“We look forward to having Sam lead CSC on this journey and make significant contributions to the digital transformation of our clients in ANZ,” he said.
