IAG’s CIO, Claire Rawlins, has been appointed group executive, digital and technology, following an executive restructure at the insurance company.

Rawlins will lead the company’s Digital Labs division (formerly IAG Labs), which will build digital apps and ecosystems and simplify the organisation’s existing core platforms.

IAG Labs was launched in July and has created several offerings including ShareCover, a protection policy for Australians who let their properties via Airbnb or Stayz.

IAG’s new Digital Labs division is one of three groups focused on customer, experience, and technology and operations.

The other two divisions are Customer Labs; responsible for customer experience strategy and driving innovation through data; and Operations, responsible for claims and procurement and supply chain functions.

Rawlins – who was appointed as group CIO in August – is reporting to new IAG CEO, Peter Harmer.

Harmer said in a statement that the restructure supports the company’s desire to become a customer-led, data-driven organisation that can adapt quickly to the rapidly changing environment in which businesses now operate.

Rawlins was formerly CIO at NBN Co (now nbn). She also worked in digital and IT transformation roles at Air New Zealand Woolworths Limited.

The restructure follows the appointment last month of former Deloitte Digital technology director, Peter Bonney to the newly established role of head of disruptive technology and architecture.
