ITU teams up with Georgia Tech to develop Internet of Things standards

The International Telecommunication Union is further developing standards for the Internet of Things by signing a memorandum of understanding with Georgia Institute of Technology, one of the world’s leading tech universities.
The ITU and Georgia Tech aim to help solve a global challenge in making IoT devices across cities, industries and homes more interoperable and less siloed.
Their work will include research on signal processing, cybersecurity, connectivity, machine-to-machine communication, ubiquitous sensor networks and more.
The partnership is in collaboration with the ITU Standardization Sector (ITU-T) Study Group 20, which is developing standards for IoT with a focus on urban and smart city applications.
The ITU and Georgia tech will also bring together standards groups that are industry specific, working with public and private organisations in interested in IoT technologies and applications.
