Exclusive: Claudine Ogilvie new Jetstar CIO

Jetstar's new CIO, Claudine Ogilvie

Claudine Ogilvie has been appointed as Jetstar’s new CIO, replacing Grainne Kearns who will depart in August after helping restructure the low cost airline’s IT team.

Ogilvie has been CIO at ASX-listed animal nutrition manufacturer Ridley Corporation since mid-2013. She was the organisation's first CIO and before being appointed, she had never worked in IT.

Reporting to group CFO, Race Strauss, Ogilvie will be responsible for the technology platforms that support Jetstar's five branded airlines across the Asia-Pacific region: Jetstar Airways (a subsidiary of Qantas Airways) in Australia and New Zealand, Jetstar Asia in Singapore, Jetstar Pacific in Vietnam, and Jetstar Japan.

Jetstar's Strauss said Ogilvie had an exceptional track record and would bring a strong commercial focus to the role. Ogilvie has spent most of her career in sales operations, marketing and strategy roles at KPMG Australia, International SOS, BNP, and Unipath in France.

"We've made significant strides with our technology strategy during the past three years and Claudine inherits a great platform to build upon," Strauss said.

"Under Claudine's leadership I know we'll see continued improvement in the commercial and strategic alignment of the technology platforms that support our airlines."

Ogilvie said it was an exciting time to be joining the organisation.

"I’m very much looking forward to working with the talented team at Jetstar to drive innovation and optimise the technology platform for the benefit of customers and the organisation,” she said.

“Jetstar is an amazing brand with a growing footprint across Asia Pacific, and I’m really excited to join a company that is working so hard to make the world more accessible for millions of customers.”

Meanwhile, Jetstar said Grainne Kearns - who announced in April that she was leaving the airline - will help the business transition over the coming months.
