Transport for NSW migrates to SaaS-based expense management platform

Expense8 replaces the previous iCMS product in operation for 16 years

Transport for NSW, the department responsible for the planning and delivery of the state’s public transport services and infrastructure, has gone live on the Expense8 SaaS-based expense platform.

Expense8 replaces the previous iCMS product that Transport for NSW, together with Sydney Trains, NSW Trains, and RMS, has been a customer of for 16 years.

The three year contract will provide a positive impact to this financial year and beyond with a minimum annual recurring revenue increase of 23 per cent for the customer contract, according to Transport for NSW’s principal manager accounts payable, Donna Rodrom.

“Expense8’s cloud-based expense management solution provides a simple path to streamlining our procurement-card processes across Transport’s agency cluster enabling us to focus on gaining better visibility on procurement-card spend together with greater process and cost efficiencies,” Rodrom said.

Expense8 is an integrated software solution that streamlines the accounting, reporting, tax compliance (GST, FBT) and governance of employee generated expenses and corporate travel bookings.

The software is used by a variety of government customers including Federal Treasury, Federal Department of Finance, NSW Department of Education, NSW Police and the Northern Territory Government.

The latest move by Transport for NSW to adopt a cloud-based expense management platform follows on the heels of other significant technology projects for the department.

In June, Transport for NSW moved its service desk and work management systems to the cloud. The new ServiceNow shared services platform includes a workflow and CRM solution for back office operations and a self-service customer app to ease the load on the service desk.

In April, it awarded a $100 million, three year outsourcing contract to CSC to provide network managed services across its 1,200 sites.
