UPDATED: CA Technologies’ A/NZ boss exits top job

Hope Powers, CA Technologies’ senior vice president and managing director for Australia and New Zealand, has stepped down from her role heading up the company’s local operations.

The company has announced that Paul Falkenstein, a CA Technologies veteran of two decades and, most recently, chairman of CA Japan, has stepped in to fill the top job in the A/NZ market.

The announcement comes just days after it was confirmed that Powers would be vacating her position as the company's A/NZ chief.

Powers, who is returning to the United States, first came to the role in March, 2014, when she replaced former managing director for Australia and New Zealand, Bill McMurray.

The company said at the time that Powers was tasked with driving sales, building the partner ecosystem, and developing new business, along with other duties.

“[Hope] has achieved significant results by fostering teamwork, improving customer relationships and exceeding sales goals,” said Kenneth Arredondo, CA Technologies’ president and general manager, Asia Pacific and Japan, upon Powers’ appointment in 2014 to lead the A/NZ operation.

Powers’ departure comes as the company’s Australian operation reports slides in both profits and revenues during the financial year ending March 2016, according to documents lodged with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).

The documents show that the company’s Australian operations reported a $3.7 million drop in profit from its Australian operations for the year, to $15.12 million - this is down from the $18.82 million it recorded for the same period the previous year.

Meanwhile, the company’s local arm reported $140.4 million in revenue from continuing operations for the 12 months ending March, representing a $12.8 million fall from the previous year’s result of $153.2 million.

At the same time, incoming cash flows from operating activities – specifically, receipts from customers – have dropped from $254.2 million to $152.8 million for the 12-month period.

"We are very fortunate to have seen strong leadership in Hope who has been the driving force behind our local business and I want to thank her for her commitment beyond her contracted two-year period," said Arredondo in a statement. "As she hands the baton to Paul, I am confident he will continue her good work."

For Falkenstein, the new position offers the opportunity to help guide the company's local customers through their respective digital transformation journeys.

"I’m confident that our strong heritage and credentials will allow CA to continue to make great in-roads in A/NZ," he said.
