Meredith Whalen

Chief Research Officer, IDC

Meredith Whalen is IDC’s Chief Research Officer and member of the senior management team. She leads IDC’s worldwide research organization, product management, marketing and client services functions. Ms. Whalen sets the direction and agenda for IDC’s worldwide research products, fosters innovation, and ensures IDC clients have a valuable, personalized, and engaging experience.

Ms. Whalen’s international team of 1,100 analysts leverage research and advisory services to empower business transformation for the Global 2000, and counsel technology suppliers on creating effective offerings for the digital economy.

Ms. Whalen regularly presents at CIO and CXO summits in North America, EMEA, Asia Pacific and Latin America. She oversees the CIO Executive Council, which provides strategic leadership development for transforming the C-suite at the world’s most influential and evolving organizations.

Ms. Whalen was previously Senior Vice President of IT Executive, Industry, Software and Services Research & CIO Executive Council. In her 20 years at IDC, Ms. Whalen has innovated industry research practices with such offerings as the Industry Insights business units, advising vertical industry advising on technology strategy, and IDC’s DecisionScape methodology, a portfolio of decision-making methodologies that enable professionals to better plan, deploy and optimize their technology initiatives. Ms. Whalen founded IDC’s IT Executive Research programs and architected the industry’s first and most comprehensive business use case taxonomy. She holds a B.A. with honors from Wellesley College and an M.B.A. with honors with from Babson’s F.W. Olin Graduate School of Management.

Byron Connolly

Editor-in-Chief, CIO Australia

Byron Connolly has 25 years’ experience as a journalist and editor. In his current role as Editor-in-Chief at CIO Australia, he is responsible for commissioning, writing and editing content for the brand. He also facilitates roundtables and conferences for senior IT and business executives and creates content from these events.

Prior to this role, Byron was a Senior Writer and Editor at Editor Group, a Sydney-based corporate writing agency, where he produced editorial material for some of the world’s top technology and consulting companies.

Byron was Editor of technology channel publication, CRN Australia, published by Haymarket Media Group, and held senior editorial roles at technology publications ITNews and Information Week at Penton Media and APN News and Media.
 
He was also Client Services Director at public relations firm Upstream Australia (now Bite Global).

Jonathen Kempe

Founder and CEO of Verifai

Jonathan is a technical Founder with over 20 years of experience as a systems administrator across a broad array of IT disciplines. He has held a number of diverse roles over his working life: senior positions in various large corporations; founding several businesses; holding trusted roles in nationally accredited NFPs, NGOs and education providers, and in the Australian Defence Force satellite communications sector. As a Cybersecurity Ambassador with the New South Wales Cybersecurity Innovation Node, Jonathan engages on a range of matters, including industry integration and technological trends. Well-connected to an array of Australian business advocacy groups, Government bodies and Start-up’s, Jonathan regularly contributes to innovation and industry forums, webinars and podcasts in the areas of IoT, biometrics, protecting critical infrastructure and supply-chains.

Jonathan is the Founder and CEO of Sydney-based scale-up Verifai. Verifai has a focus on increasing supply-chain security, transparency and visibility through the deployment of unique technologies that generate trustworthy data, provide provenance assurance, and protect assets at rest and in transit. Passionate about solving global problems and working alongside creative entrepreneurs, Jonathan is dedicated to building real solutions that positively transform the world.

Simona Dimovski

Chief Information Officer, Sutherland Shire Council

Simona is a strategic leader with extensive knowledge of how technology enables business value and growth. Simona brings a wealth of expertise across the Information Management and Technology sector, and has a diverse background in both corporate and government settings.

Angela Donohoe

Chief Information Officer, BPAY Group

Angela Donohoe is an experienced executive and director with a track record for developing and growing highly engaged teams who harness the potential of technology that delivers value. Angela leads BPAY Group’s technology function including business focussed strategy, architecture, solutions, and operations that enable high quality, trusted, and innovative payments services.

Angela has been BPAY Group’s Chief Information Officer for more than four years and is a member of the executive team. In this role, she has ownership and oversight of technology governance, IT risk management and cyber security for BPAY Group.

Recent achievements include the launch of BPAY API’s and developer portal, Osko on the New Payments Platform, transformation of infrastructure to private and public cloud services, strengthened cyber security defences and significant improvement in time to market of customer solutions through mature Agile practices. Angela has led development of technology strategy and roadmaps with a focus on product and service innovation, customer experience, strengthening of data and analytics capabilities, and uplifted capabilities for collaboration and hybrid working.

Angela has more than 25 years experience delivering strategic outcomes in large and complex environments across a range of industries including financial services and government. Previous executive roles held include Revenue NSW, Cuscal, Societe Generale, and Bank of New York.

Angela is a Fellow of CPA Australia and FINSIA, holds technology advisory roles and is a former Chair and current director of a not-for-profit childcare organisation. With a passion for encouraging greater representation of women in technology, Angela is an active mentor and supporter through a range of STEM groups and inititatives.

Mark Smink

Chief Information Security Officer - Asia Pacific, JLL

Mark has over 20 years of IT experience in operations, security and infrastructure working in multinational environments. Building and leading teams of local security professionals and outsourced security services companies across Asia Pacific to build security environments and platforms. A trusted advisor to business lines to build a security aware culture and to support client security and compliance audits and bid responses. Accountable for Governance, IT Security Compliance, ISO27001, IT Risk, Security Awareness, Security Operation Centres, Penetration testing and Security Incident management.

Kathleen Stubbs

Chief Information Officer, JLL Australasia

Kathleen is a senior technology leader with over 20 years of experience and a passion for customer driven technology. Currently she is the Chief Information Officer for JLL Australasia and leads the Asia Pacific Foundational Technology function. Kathleen is internationally experienced within the fields of Business Strategy, Digital Transformation, Application Development and Customer Analytics spanning EMEA and Asia Pacific. Her capabilities are wide ranging from delivering new revenue streams to leading verticals to drive strategic business transformation. Kathleen has had the opportunity to lead local and global teams across multiple geographies.

Ray Moukaddem

Senior Director of Professional Services, Okta

Ray is a results-focused leader who has a passion for technology-led problem solving, driving customer growth and building high performing teams within a fast-paced environment. Ray has worked across several business areas throughout his career, starting in software engineering and architecture, moving to pre-sales and now leads professional service teams.

Currently, Ray leads the Professional Services team across the JAPAC region. His team utilises a customer first strategy to align the customers vision with outcomes, while also focusing on reducing time-to-value and simplifying complexity. Ray co-chairs the Okta 4 Good initiative which aims to have a positive impact by giving back to the community. Ray has recently celebrated being granted a patent from the USPTO related to simplifying interoperability and Platform as Code.

Raghav Gupta

A strategic, execution focused and entrepreneurial business leader, with proven track record in the consumer, internet and management consulting industries in India, south-east Asia and Europe. Have led three consumer internet businesses in India – Coursera, BlaBlaCar and Sucré Patisserie – and successfully created new spaces in the consumer domain. Have over 19 years of experience across Coursera, BlaBlaCar, Sucré Patisserie, Booz & Co and Technopak Advisors.

Neal French

Head of Chrome Enterprise division, Google

Neal French is the Head of Chrome Enterprise division for Google in Asia Pacific and Japan. In this role he is an evangelist in helping businesses define their “devices” strategy. Helping them to get the cloud working smarter for them and helping accelerate employee & customer engagement. Neal has previously held leadership roles at Microsoft and Lenovo, building up 17 years of global experience in the technology and hardware market place.

Sam Kroonenburg

A Cloud Guru + Pluralsight

Sam Kroonenburg and his brother Ryan co-founded A Cloud Guru in 2015 with a simple purpose: to democratise access to cloud technical education so that anyone, anywhere could access exciting career opportunities in technology.

With backgrounds in technology, Sam and Ryan realised early on that available training options didn’t reflect the exciting, fun, and interesting nature of future technologies. This inspired them to build a new online training platform that could fit into learners’ busy lives around the world. Since its inception, A Cloud Guru has enabled 2.5 million learners and over 4,500 organisations to achieve a brighter future.

Sam has been CEO of A Cloud Guru from its inception to until most recently when ACG was acquired by Pluralsight, a US online technical education company. Sam is passionate about the common purpose of the combined companies and is now running the cloud division for Pluralsight, focusing on the training courses related to the technology of big players like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.

Joe Cozzupoli

Security Principal, Citrix

A security expert spanning across multiple verticals and technologies over 20 years, focused on how technology can enable business outcomes by being a trusted advisor to CISOs & C-Level Executives. I Currently hold multiple industry certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CISM, CDPSE, TOGAF & CCIE.
As a thought leader in the industry, I have delivered keynote presentations and served as an expert panellist at major events.
I’ve consulted with Fortune 500 clients across the globe, advising C-level and executive boards on best practices for managing cyber and business risk. I’ve counselled governments, major banks and multinational companies, drawing on my technical background to communicate effectively with senior business leaders.
I’ve worked on the front lines, seen ransomware bring businesses to their knees and been called in when email fraud leaves enterprises in financial ruins. Trading the workstation for the boardroom years ago has allowed me to help organisations prevent such incidents, rather than responding after they occur.
Outside of my day job, I volunteer my time to equip the next generation of talent with the foundational skills they will need throughout their careers. Working with non-profit organisations, I conduct regular cybersecurity workshops focusing on cloud, DevOps, artificial intelligence, IoT and OT.

Chris Morris

Vice President, IDC Asia/Pacific excluding Japan (APeJ) Cloud Services and Technology Group

Chris Morris is the Vice President for IDC’s Asia/Pacific excluding Japan (APeJ) Cloud Services and Technology group and of the APeJ Partner and Alliances program. He is also a member of the IDC Worldwide Cloud Services research team and the worldwide Partner and Alliances research team.

As the leader of research into the Cloud Services markets in APeJ he manages the regional research into all facets of public and private cloud. This includes the IT-focused technology and services as well as the implications for digital business.

Working closely with IDC analysts in emerging markets, Chris brings thought leadership content and advisory expertise to other IDC research teams, the IDC Consulting team, as well as IDC’s clients in the region. He drives business development efforts, delivers custom research projects for clients, and works closely with IDC’s Consulting Group to manage and provide advice in strategic engagements.

Chris also implemented the Partner and Alliance Program in APeJ. This program supports regional ICT vendors as they adapt their business activities and relationships with their channel partners and their strategic alliances. The major focus of this research area is the transformation of traditional partners to being digital-ready.

Chris comes to IDC with more than 25 years of extensive IT research and more than 35 years of industry experience. Prior to joining IDC in 2007, Chris worked as an independent IT industry researcher and consultant for six years. Some of his key clients included the Australian Taxation Office, the University of New South Wales (UNSW), as well as vendor. Prior to 2002, he was Gartner’s Group Vice President and Director of Research for the Asia/Pacific region with responsibilities ranging from business development to research delivery to client engagement activities. Beginning his tenure in Gartner in 1992, Chris was the first research analyst in the Asia/Pacific region for the organization. Previously, he worked for a number of technology vendors including Fujitsu, Amdahl, and Hitachi Data Systems, in a variety of technical, product marketing, and management roles.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia.

Michael Porfirio

Senior Director, IT Transformation Solution Consulting, APJ, ServiceNow

Michael is the Senior Director for IT Transformation Solution Consulting for Asia, Pacific and Japan. Since joining ServiceNow in 2016, he and his team have focused on helping customers achieve IT transformation leveraging the ServiceNow Platform. Michael has more than 25 years of experience in the IT industry, working with global technology brands. He’s held various technical and leadership roles at companies such as Veritas, Symantec, Commvault, and Hutchison Telecoms.

Leonardo Abdala

Leo is an executive with 20+ years of hands-on experience in software development, product and programme management. He is also co-founder and former CTO of a successful startup headquartered in Brazil.
As a consultant, Leo has structured and delivered digital solutions and innovation strategies for Fortune 500 companies and other global organisations in various lines of business. Sectors Leo worked in include education, telecommunications, pharma, financial services, insurance, health & fitness, fundraising, entertainment & leisure.

Leo holds both Bachelor Honours and Postgraduate degrees in Management Information Systems (MIS), and also carries a Project Risk Management Certificate from Stanford University and Digital Transformation Strategies from Cambridge Judge Business School.

Chris Day

Chris Day, Director, APAC Sales Engineering, Denodo assists organisations to leverage the capabilities of Denodo Data Virtualization to increase their understanding, agility and collaboration across their disparate information landscapes.

With over 16 years of experience in data integration, data governance, data quality and system architecture, Chris leads enterprises through the challenge of transforming their data contained in disconnected disparate silos, into valuable information assets that the whole enterprise can use and understand.

Rob Collins

Rob Collins is part of the global Systems Engineering team helping organisations recover from cyber attacks and improve their security posture by uplifting to Managed Threat Response. Rob has over 20 years’ experience in the Cyber Security Industry. Prior to joining Sophos, he worked with several Tier 1 security vendors in a pre-sales capacity and has worked on the front line in several high-profile Incident Response engagements. He also had the opportunity of working within the end user market, heading up APAC infrastructure and information security for a large pharmaceutical company in Singapore early in his career.

Linus Lai

Vice President, Software and Services, IDC Asia/Pacific

Linus Lai is a member of the Asia/Pacific software and services research group. He has more than 20 years of IT experience in the region. Based in Sydney, Australia, he has experience in several cloud, software, and services programs in Asia/Pacific excluding Japan (APEJ), which covers a wide range of technology and services markets across 13 countries.

In this role, he is responsible for providing insights and analyses in enterprise adoption, integration, and management of these solutions. This includes sourcing strategies, vendor selection, and identifying emerging trends in business and technology solutions across technology buyers in the region.

Lai is a founding member of IDC Asia/Pacific’s Emerging Technology Advisory Council and is a recipient of numerous awards for country, regional, and quality research contributions. In his previous role as head of research in Southeast Asia, he developed and grew IDC’s presence in the region.

Lai is frequently quoted in various publications and media outlets and is a regular presenter at industry forums, client events, and strategic workshops. Prior to joining IDC, he worked with a large outsourcing service provider that focused on retail banking solutions.

He holds a master of science degree from the University of Lincoln, United Kingdom.

Jack Miller

Head of Global Professional Services, Menlo Security, Inc.

For over 20 years, Jack has been at the forefront of Information Security.

After 16 years of building and running enterprise security programs and operations as a CISO at four multi-billion dollar organizations, Jack shifted his focus to the startup world, first working as an Executive in Residence for a leading VC and then running security, strategy, operations and services for multiple US and European security startups.

Currently, Jack serves as Head of Global Professional Services for Menlo Security where he leverages his experience with enterprise deployments to build people and processes to decrease time to value and ensure a successful onboarding experience for Menlo customers. Jack has written numerous articles and blogs on Information Security and regularly presents at industry conferences, sharing his insights to help mold the next generation of security leaders.

Bridget Gray

Vice President of IT (Asia Pacific), Korn Ferry

Bridget Gray is Vice President IT of Korn Ferry, responsible for leading digital and technical transformation talent acquisition capabilities and solutions across Asia Pacific.

Bridget is passionate about supporting clients navigate the ever-evolving global technology and digital ecosystem and has spent the past two decades partnering with them to address their current and future talent requirements. Although her career has been varied in nature, technology has always been a central focus.

Prior to joining Korn Ferry, Bridget was in an executive role for 11 years at a global recruitment and outsourcing organisation where she launched the Asia Pacific business and held accountability for recruitment, executive search and offshore solutions. James Weaver

Lloyd Evans

Leonard Sim

Head of Presales, APAC, Kaspersky

Leonard has over 20 years’ experience in the cybersecurity field and is armed with an extensive range of knowledge and experience from multiple security domains.

He joined Kaspersky Lab in Nov 2017 as the Head of Presales for the APAC region. In this role, he leads the team of presales managers and engineers across the Asia Pacific region, providing presales support on all Kaspersky solutions to address the cybersecurity needs and requirements from customers and partners. Prior to joining Kaspersky, Leonard was in various presales and sales engineering roles across multiple global cyber security vendors.

Sanja Marais

General Manager, Technology & Innovation, Aspen Medical

Sanja Marais is an experienced and accomplished technology and innovation leader, program and change manager with over 11 years’ experience in the Australian health sector. As General Manager, Technology and Innovation at Aspen Medical, Sanja has built a responsive IT environment that consistently delivers results by aligning technology and innovation with business goals. This has brought substantial improvement in operational and clinical service delivery, standardisation and business/systems performance. In addition, Sanja has effectively raised IT’s visibility within the organisation by bringing technology decisions and a robust cyber security framework to the forefront of crucial Executive Committee discussions. Sanja’s career includes multiple leadership roles including her current position as CEO of the Aspen Medical RTO and Board Member on the Aspen Corporate Health board. She currently leads a highly skilled IT team in implementing complex systems and application development projects for prominent private and public sector clients.

Natalie Fair

Regional Lead Asia Pacific & Japan, PagerDuty

Natalie has two decades of technology experience, particularly in the emerging technologies, enterprise and digital transformation arenas. As an inspirational senior leader in the technology space, Natalie works with customers to achieve their goals and objectives in an ever-changing digital world.

With extensive cross-portfolio experience, Natalie has expertise in delivering value to her clients by identifying their business goals and outcomes and matching them with solutions that deliver innovative solutions to meet those goals.

Before joining PagerDuty over three years ago as part of the company’s APJ team, Natalie was with HP Software in roles covering Consulting, ITSM Architecture, Account Management and leadership roles .

Cate Campbell

Olympic Gold Medalist Swimmer

The eldest of five Campbell children, Cate was born in Malawi and was taught to swim in Lake Malawi by her mother Jenny – a former synchronised swimmer.

When the family moved to Australia in 2001, nine year-old Cate and her sister Bronte joined the local Indooroopilly Swimming Club in Brisbane and fell in love with competitive swimming.

Cate’s dominance in the pool began at a young age, rising through the ranks to win two gold medals as a 13 year-old at the Australian Age Championships to put herself squarely on the national team radar as one to watch.

By the age of 16, she had broken the Australian & Commonwealth 50m Freestyle records and earned selection at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where she displayed remarkable maturity and poise on the biggest stage in world sport to win Bronze medals in the 50m Freestyle and 4 × 100m Freestyle events.

Cate backed that breakthrough performance up with another Bronze at the 2009 World Championships as she set her sights on the 2012 London Olympics.
