The Western Australian Department of Health (WA Health) has inked a $123 million deal with Atos in a bid to transition and digitise its ICT systems with a mix of cloud services and platforms that will improve the provision of healthcare services.
WA Health’s Kylie Towie, acting chief executive and CIO of Health Support Services (HSS), is leaving the organisation after 18 months at the helm.
WA Health is to purchase a major chunk of the underlying software and services to facilitate the delivery of the national Health Identifiers initiative being managed by the National e-Health Transition Authority (NeHTA).
Western Australia residents will have to wait until at least 2014 before the state’s health department will replace its ailing patient administration system (PAS).
