Annual CIO summit to showcase new business IT strategies

Web 2.0, cloud, open source key issues discussed

The CIO summit kicks off in Sydney tomorrow with more than 200 CIOs from across Australia set to converge on Sydney’s Westin Hotel.

The day’s agenda includes a number of topical and relevant issues for CIOs including data centre management, cloud computing and the move to open source.

Presentations are designed for CIOs by CIOs with the majority of speakers sharing their experience as CIO in their organisation.

Speakers include Vernon Turner and Tim Dillon from IDC who will be analysing what the future of IT will look like and draw on IDC’s Forecast for Management Survey to analyse key challenges CIOs are facing, andBob Correll,CIO for the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), will talk about the CIO as being a change agent.

Mark Corbould from the National Library of Australia will draw on his experience as the assistant-director of general IT to talk about how the library are using open source software and other Web 2.0 technologies to develop online services while Michael Disbury, CIO of ServiceFirst, will speak about how technology can be used to support organisational change.
