The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has adopted social software in the hope of providing greater collaboration across its 3200 strong workforce.
Director at the ABS, Dale Chatwin, said the move to IBM Lotus Connections was in line with the organisations’ ethos around using current technology.
"The ABS prides itself on a history of adopting cutting-edge software to bring speed and effectiveness to our organisation. With Lotus Connections, we can use business-grade social software, straight out of the box,” Chatwin said.
The software provides for collaboration through the integration of blogs, wikis, file sharing, profiling, task management and community spaces with e-mail.
The ABS last week outlined its move to telling statistical stories through the technology behind visual statistics.
