Construction company McNab has moved to upgrade its WAN and LAN after an increased need to scale its IT systems emerged.
The Queensland-based company, which has staff spread across Brisbane, Toowoomba and Townsville, sought a new network that would enable rapid application deployment and increased performance speeds.
McNab’s IT manager, Bruce Waldron, said the company chose to partner with Bridge Point for the upgrade due to the long and established relationship the two companies have.
“We have relied on Bridge Point’s expertise and advice for many years now,” Waldron said in a statement.
“They have a good understanding of our requirements and their close relationship with Cisco means that Bridge Point found a solution that was a good fit for our organisation that leveraged our existing setup.”
McNab deployed a Cisco network solution that has the flexibility to use advanced technologies including unified communications.
Speaking to Computerworld Australia, director of Bridge Point, Tim Smith, said the two companies have been working in partnership for four years, with McNab relying on its IT systems to support its remote workforce of some 230 employees.
“They needed to make themselves ready for newer technologies such as video in particular,” Smith told Computerworld Australia. “…at the moment they have a lot of travel between Brisbane and Toowoomba.”
According to Smith, part of enabling this growth has been the upgrade of the company’s WAN.
“The WAN has now been upgraded to bigger speeds and they’re ready for the future,” he said.
