Transfield Services (ASX:TSE)|CFOWorld]] said its New Zealand telecom arm has won a $NZ260 million ($200.7 million) deal associated with the nation's Ultrafast Broadband fibre project.
The operations, asset and project management company said the deal is to provide telecom services to Enable Networks.
Enable Networks, the trading name of Christchurch City Networks, was recently selected to roll out the Ultrafast Broadband (UFB) network in Christchurch and surrounding areas.
Telecom NZ (ASX:TEL) will deploy the bulk of the $1.5 billion UFB, which aims to cover 75% of the New Zealand population. WEL Networks and Northpower will also cover some areas.
Transfield said the 10 year contract to assist in the design, rollout and maintenance of Enable's portion of the network is scheduled to begin in July.
Transfield's New Zealand telecom business also provides services for customers including Telecom NZ's Chorus and Transpower.
TSE shares grew 0.56% in Wednesday's trading to $3.600.
