The IT Service Management Forum (itSMF) Australia has introduced a new membership category for schools to improve the delivery of IT services to students.
Citing the government’s Digital Education Revolution (DER) as the reason behind the move, itSMF chair, Kathryn Heaton, said the membership category will help with the management of IT systems in schools.
“With this exponential growth in computer usage in Australian schools, school principals and IT staff increasingly need a framework and collaborative support to manage IT Services,” Heaton said.
“itSMF Australia is in a great position to support schools by providing knowledge about how process driven IT service management can deliver cost and efficiency benefits through international standards such as ISO20000 and proven best practice service delivery frameworks such as ITIL.”

The scheme will target school IT departments with secondary enrolments that are looking for processes to manage a large number of computers being run under the DER program.
The DER was announced in 2007, with the aim of achieving a student to computer ratio of one to one for students in year 9 through to 12 by the end of this year.
