Gaming hardware manufacturer Razer is partnering with China's Internet firm Tencent for games to run on its newest 17.3-inch (43.9 centimeters) gaming laptop.
Shipments of the Razer Blade laptop in China are scheduled to start in mid-2012, as the company aims to tap one of the world's largest markets.
Razer said it is partnering with Tencent to optimize several of the company's games for the laptop.
The Razer Blade is built with a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 2640M processor and uses an Nvidia GeForce GT 555M graphics card. It comes designed in an aluminum casing, and is 0.88 inches (2.23 centimeters) thin, and weighs 6.6 pounds (3.0 kilograms).
An unusual feature of the device is that it has a programmable LCD (liquid crystal display) panel built next to its keyboard, which can display in-game information and commands for configured games. The LCD panel can also function as a multitouch trackpad.
The Razer Blade laptop was first unveiled in August. Razer said that the laptop will ship in the U.S. later this year at US$2,800.
Razer had originally said in April that the company would bring a smaller 7-inch netbook-like device called the Razer Switchblade to China. The device used Intel's Z670 Atom processor and came with a programmable keyboard built over an LCD panel that could be changed from standards keys to specialized icons configurable to games.
Razer, however, gave no launch date for the device. A Razer spokesman said last week the Razer Switchblade is currently only a concept device, with no launch date planned.
