Telemarketer Service Stream Solutions has been fined $110,000 for making calls to numbers on the Do Not Call Register – despite being the operator of the register.
The company has also entered into an enforceable undertaking.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) found the company in breach of the Register after an investigation found numbers were incorrectly included on its list during a 10-week campaign due to phone numbers not being re-checked against the register.
The company provides telemarketing services for government and other organisations, including for operating the Do Not Call Register on behalf of ACMA.
Service Stream Solutions has agreed to engage an independent consultant to review its calling list processes; train its staff about their obligations under the Do Not Call Register; and audit its future campaigns to ensure it complies.
