Suncorp Group’s CIO, Matt Pancino, has resigned just one month after moving back into the role.

Pancino had been CEO at Suncorp Business Services since June 2014, promoted from the CIO position, which he held for just over two years.

Suncorp said Pancino had been instrumental in delivering the organisation’s simplification program and other technology projects. As CIO, he was responsible for digital enablement, cloud and infrastructure services, programs, and innovation labs.

Suncorp CEO, Michael Cameron said in a statement that an internal and external search is underway for a replacement. Clayton Herbert, Suncorp’s chief transformation officer, will act as caretaker until a replacement is appointed.

Suncorp restructured its operations last month, creating a new operating model where customer-focused functions are supported by leaner services to drive growth.

At the time, Cameron said the customer experience function will use data, insights and forward-looking analytics to inform product innovation and marketing strategies to ensure the organisation satisfies evolving customer needs.

Under the restructure, Mark Reinke was appointed as chief customer experience officer, and Gary Dransfield as chief executive officer.

Pancino will walk out the door on April 29.
